Hotel Recommendations

For those of you from south of the wall and less familiar with Glasgow, we figured we would provide some guidance on hotels and best areas to stay for when you are booking your accommodation. West End hotels close to the venue are a bit more limited and expensive than the city centre but a few stops on the Subway or a cheap taxi gets you to the venue in no time at all.

West End – Closest to venue

  • Grosvenor Hotel – Crawling distance to the venue but the most expensive
  • Royal West End Hotel – About a 4 min walk from the venue but limited availability and a no thrills hotel. Contact us if you’re keen, we can provide instructions on how to get a cheaper wedding rate than what the site offers
  • Belhaven Hotel – 8 min walk to the venue and roughly priced the same as Royal West

Finnieston – 20-25 min walk to venue or 5 min taxi

  • There’s a few hotels in this area like Best Western, Argyll Hotel, Sandyford all of which look like pretty standard 3* hotels
  • Not got any to recommend as such so check reviews but this is a nice area to stay for some of the best bars and restaurants in the west end of Glasgow
  • There are also some chain hotels a little south from here close to the Hydro like Moxy, Hilton, Raddison which would be a 10 min taxi from the venue and 10-15 min walk back up to Finnieston

City Centre – Subway to Hillhead station or 10 min taxi away from venue

  • Predictably there are a lot of hotels in the city which may be more suitable and cheaper. If you want to run any of them by us in terms of location then please do
  • Anywhere around Buchanan St / George Square is the most central and easiest in terms of Subway links or taxi ranks

Restaurants & Bars

Assuming most of you will be up here longer than just one night, we thought it would be good to provide some restaurant and bar recommendations. Now given it will be Halloween and payday weekend, we recommend you book restaurants well in advance for the Friday or alternatively have a few pints and a chippy, up to you!

Below are a mixture of cuisines and price ranges that would all require a reservation, plenty more casual options if you prefer to keep it low-key!

West End

City Centre

Not as clued up on the city but will recommend my cousins places which are spot on

Plenty of casual dining spots or places better for those of you with kids

  • Pizza – Paesano, Sears, Ceverinos
  • Burgers – Bread Meats Bread, Chilos, The Butchershop

As for pubs, there are plenty in the city and some great areas in the west end like Woodlands, Byres Rd and Finnieston. Recommendations available on request or go explore yourself.
